Jumanji: Open World (2026, dir. Jake Kasdan) is the third film in Sony's rebooted Jumanji series, following Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level, and releases Christmas Day 2026. Picking up after the last film's teaser ending, the video game's creatures — and now its human avatars — have broken loose from the console into the real world. Unlike the previous two films, this one flips the formula back toward the original 1995 movie's premise: instead of people getting pulled into the game, the game's chaos invades reality.
The four avatars (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan) end up stranded on Earth without players controlling them, glitching in a buggy "demo mode." The trailer shows a repairman finding an old console, supernatural clouds gathering, and ostriches storming through the streets, while the "demo mode" glitch causes odd quirks like Johnson's character inexplicably speaking with a Spanish accent. Alex Wolff, Danny DeVito, and other returning cast are joined by newcomers Nick Jonas and Rhys Darby.
