“Don’t fear death, for you will not be there when it comes” – Swami Vivekananda. Birla Bose, the police officer has understood the essence of this statement and lives by this. This movie Thuppakki Munai, talks about the life of Birla Bose. This society uses law as a shield, while he uses it as a sword. Birla Bose firmly believes that except for the gun that shot Mahatma Gandhi dead, all the other guns that Police use are invaluable. Poverty creates criminals, now it is the power and authority that creates criminals. Birla Bose understands this more clearly than anybody and he thinks that those judgement that takes an infinite time to come to create a sense of fear in the minds of criminals does not actually stop them from the criminal act. He decides to finish off the criminals through his bullets. His bullets gave a new lease of life to people who had lost trust in the system. Birla Bose’s bullets scared the wits out of not only criminals, but the authorities too. Birla Bose, who believed that violence is the only remedy for all that is wrong in the world, turns around and understands that it is love that changes the world. How that transformation happens, is what “Thuppakki Munai” is all about.
