"The Chosen One" tells the story of Ah Jie, who is able to communicate with gods and spirits but denies his power. Lately, several people have approached Ah Jie requesting his help in exorcising demons for them. Ah Jie refuses to succumb to this title and refuses to help anyone in exorcising demons. However, these people do not back down; some even kneel and plead. Ah Jie escapes in frustration. To uncover the truth, a famous paranormal vlogger named Sora visits Mr. Ah Jie, Baiyun, and begins investigating the matter. She discovers that Ah Jie has a calling as a demon exorcist and was born with the "third eye." However, Ah Jie wants no association with demon exorcism because he has fallen in love with his ghost lover, Ah Jiao, a prostitute who died in an accident.
Meanwhile, the vengeful spirits of soldiers trapped in the underground of a museum during World War II are released after some renovation work. They come out to seek revenge against the Japanese officer who killed them. It is later revealed that Sora is the reincarnation of this Japanese officer. Can Ah Jie overcome his resentment towards what Sora has done to him and his ghost lover and save Sora?
