"Takluk: Lahad Datu" is a gripping Malaysian war drama directed by Zulkarnain Azhar, inspired by the true events of the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff, also known as "Operation Daulat." This film vividly portrays the heroic efforts of the Malaysian security forces, particularly the elite VAT69 Commando unit, as they confront a militant group from the Sulu Sultanate.
On February 11, 2013, these terrorists invaded Kampung Tanduo in Lahad Datu, Sabah, shaking the nation to its core.
The film provides a powerful and emotional recount of the brave men and women who defended Malaysia's sovereignty against the terrorist threat. At the end of Ops Daulat, a total of 56 terrorists were reported killed along with six civilians.
The battle also resulted in 12 national heroes dying on the battlefield after risking their lives to protect the homeland. The film showcases intense action sequences, strategic military operations, and the personal sacrifices made by the security forces during this critical period in Malaysian history.
Takluk: Lahad Datu is showing in cinemas since August 21, 2024 to November 13, 2024
