Draupathi is based on the real incidents about women affected by fake marriage certificates and dramatic love. It was taken on the backdrop of Villupuram district. More than 3500 fake marriage certificates have surfaced in 2013 in which many women were unknowingly married to men of lower stature.
This film is based on 'fake marriage racket' and other social issues prevailing in the society.
